demo: intro to western riding

Hey! Here’s another demo presentation I did for a job interview. This time, I was free to pick any topic I liked… so I chose horses (gasp). Specifically, I created a short powerpoint presentation, and an accompanying PDF handout with additional content. You can check out the full document here. (And oh — I did get the job).

This July/August, I got the chance to volunteer with the 2015 Pan American and Para Pan Am games. It was a great experience, and I had the COOLEST job; I was on the medal ceremonies crew! It was our job to coordinate the medal ceremonies, raise flags, escort athletes and dignitaries to the podium, and bring out the medals and gifts!

For the Pan Am games, I worked the equestrian events (which I requested, of course), and during Para Pan Am I was stationed at the venue for wheelchair tennis (which was amazing).

I worked with some great people, and I wanted to give them a small but unique token by which to remember the experience. I decided on pinback buttons — one for each of my teams.

I whipped both of these (obviously comedic) designs up pretty quickly since I didn’t have a lot of time to spare… but I’m quite happy with them, and I think my teams enjoyed them as well!Pan Am Buttons-01

traditional commission: bubble tea animals

A few months ago I was offered something kind of rare, for me — a commission for traditional pen-and-paper illustrations. I mean, I do a lot of animal drawings for a personal project, but I was really honoured and excited that someone liked them enough to request a commission. What’s more, these are going to be hung up in a bubble tea cafe & comic book store in the States!

I was allowed to use black and white, and do pretty much anything I wanted to match the bubble tea & comics theme. The style is a tiny bit different from what I normally do (usually, I colour with colour pencils) but I’m pretty dang happy with the results.
